Stand-Up Comedy Open Mic ft. Randall Reid & Lily Meyer
THIS WEEK’S HEADLINERS:
Randall Reid
A 10-year comedy veteran, Randall has one of the most refreshingly authentic voices in the Twin Cities comedy scene. Whether it’s sharing his own unique experiences with race, family, his reflections on the world around him, or riffing with (often predominately white) audiences in a way that challenges them and makes them squirm. But in a fun way.
With influences ranging from Louie Anderson to Sam Jay, Reid has truly found his comic voice over the past several years, which has taken him places he didn’t know were possible. No matter where he performs, he is likely to leave his mark on the audience.
Lily Meyer
Lily is a stand-up comedian and writer who began her comedy career in Boston and now lives in her hometown of Minneapolis. Her style of comedy is dark and sometimes dirty. Some people have thanked her for ‘finally saying what they have been feeling their entire lives’, and those people need professional help.
Lily performs at the Comedy Corner Underground, Sisyphus Brewing, and Camp Bar while also co-producing a bimonthly show at Indeed Brewing. She is a contributing writer for RiffTrax.

Live Music: Graden Hill
Graden Hill, a 24 year old folk-singer and storyteller from Minnesota, has been part of the Twin Cities music scene for more than a decade. His music, influenced by midwestern Americana greats, such as John Prine, Mason Jennings, and Uncle Tupelo, reflects the unique spirit of the region.
Performing since his earliest teen years, Hill’s career has spanned from hifi indie pop/rock projects with his band, Second Hand Dan, to stripped down folk and Americana arrangements on his solo work. His debut album, “A Dog to Keep You Warm” blends late 60’s folk revival with modern techniques, while capturing the essence of his Minnesotan roots.

Lahiru Samarasinghe
Lahiru has performed in the 10,000 Laughs Comedy Festival (twice) in Minneapolis, been a finalist in the House of Comedy's Funniest Person With a Day Job Contest, and was runner-up in Acme Comedy Club’s Funniest Person in the Twin Cities Contest. Oh yeah, and in 2024 Racket MN named him a "Comic to Watch"!
Currently Lahiru works at the Comedy Corner Underground in Minneapolis, hosting shows, running the room, and providing booking support. He also hosts The Modist Comedy Hour, a monthly comedy showcase at Modist Brewing in Minneapolis.
By viewing his experience as the oldest American-born child of a Sri Lankan family through a silly lens, Lahiru is able to share his life in a way audiences can relate to.
Ulysses Zackery
Ulysses has been a multifaceted entertainer for 40+ years, including voice acting, roles in television shows, movies, & commercials, & oh yeah - he’s a standup comedian & producer!
In fact he’s produced shows throughout the Twin Cities & been featured at venues such as House of Comedy in Mall of America & Sisyphus Brewing’s popular Comedy Room.
Ulysses brings a charisma & infectious energy to the stage that audiences can’t get enough of & his unique insights on relatable life situations leaves them in stitches. Don’t miss your chance to see him perform!

Treat your special someone to a fun and romantic evening filled with delicious food (menu below), exceptional drinks, and copious amounts of laughter! We're serving up a 4-course dinner, prepared by Lowertown's very own Saint City Catering, and each course will be perfectly paired with various Gambit beers selected by owner Mike Christensen.
Topping off the night will be an hour of exceptional standup comedy, with host Jesse The Shrink (producer and host of the St Paul Comedy All-Stars Show and Friday Night Comedy at Gambit Brewing) and headliner Mike Brody (comedy albums "That's Not What I Meant" and "Sell Me a Bridge"). Don't miss out on this unique Valentine's Day experience!
Tickets can be purchased in packages of 1 (bar seating only), 2, 4, or 6. Each ticket includes dinner, dessert, paired drinks, and the comedy show. Must be purchased by February 10th at 11:59pm to give us adequate time for food planning. If there are any tickets remaining after the deadline, they will become available for the comedy show only at $30 per ticket and can be purchased here. The comedy show begins at 8:30pm and ends at 9:30pm.
THE COMEDIANS:
Headliner Mike Brody
Starting comedy on a whim at an open mic in the year 2000, Mike has since devoted his life to perfecting the delivery of his high-energy act. Bucking the trend of the apathetic comedian, his genuine passion for his craft draws audience members into the unique world of Mike Brody: an affable, clever guy whose life is often derailed by his own neurotic, obsessive-compulsive and clumsy tendencies.
Brody has spent the last 20+ years touring the U.S. and internationally and hosts the beloved "Only You Would Think That" podcast with fellow comedian Jessi Campbell. He has been featured on the nationally syndicated radio program "The Bob & Tom Show" as well as the "The Dan Patrick Show" podcast. He's recorded two comedy albums , with tracks regularly featured on SirusXM Satellite Radio. Brody can also be seen in his Dry Bar Comedy special "Not Afraid of Butterflies".

Jesse is a bona fide licensed therapist & standup comic who gives audiences a sneak peek into the inner-workings & often hilarious experiences of a mental health professional. Whether he’s talking about navigating virtual therapy sessions during an apocalypse or just trying to figure out what to tell drunk people he does for a living, one thing’s sure: after hearing his stories you’ll never see therapy (or your therapist) the same again!
Jesse is the producer & host of Jesse The Shrink’s Midlife Crisis Show, the St Paul Comedy All-Stars Show, Friday Night Comedy at Gambit Brewing, St Paul Art Crawl Comedy Night, Therapy & Politics, & the 420 Standup Comedy Show.
He’s also co-founder of Freshly Squeezed Comedy, creator of the Funniest Person in St Paul contest, & runs a weekly comedy open mic at Gambit Brewing. MJ Matheson
A Wisconsin native, MJ followed his dreams four hours west for a change of climate & culture. He’s now an actor/improvisor/comedian/bartender who’s also a proud member of the Bearded Company & ComedySportz Twin Cities.
MJ produces & hosts a variety of comedy shows, including his monthly EasySpeak showcase at Volstead’s Emporium in Minneapolis.
Brendan Gay
Brendan is a national touring comedian who smiles confidently when nervous. Whether it’s his keen perspective on current culture or growing up as a millennial, he’ll make you laugh.
Brendan was a finalist on TruTV’s Comedy Breakout initiative at The New York Television Festival, Finalist in the Make Me Laugh USA Competition, and Semi finalist in NBC’s Stand Up Diversity Showcase.
Recently Brendan went on a “52 x 52” comedy tour where he traveled to 52 cities in 52 weeks doing stand up comedy at the most respected clubs and venues across the country. He’s also the creator and producer of Send It Podcast. His first comedy special The Riot is out now on YouTube and Amazon. His second comedy will be produced and directed by Emmy award winner Nolan Morice and will be released in 2025

Dan Israel is a longtime fixture on the Minneapolis music scene. He was the first guest on 89.3 The Current’s “Local Show” and has been called “the hardest working singer-songwriter in Minnesota.” He won Song of the Year (for “Come to Me”) in the 2005 Minnesota Music Awards and Songwriter of the Year in the 2006 MMA’s. He received a 4-star review from the UK’s “Uncut” magazine for his 2007 album “Turning.” He has released 17 critically acclaimed albums, including his latest, 2022’s “Seriously," which many critics and fans have praised as his finest record yet.

Grant Winkels
Grant Winkels has been performing his whole life. After years of gigging as a musician, he finally convinced himself that he was funny. He’s been convincing audiences ever since. Selected as a “Comic to Watch” by Racket Magazine, he has performed at the New York City Comedy Festival, West End Comedy Fest and Fountain City Comedy Festival among others. Grant is a producer for the acclaimed 10,000 Laughs Comedy Festival, a paid regular at Acme Comedy Company and hosts the popular Sisyphus Brewing Open Mic.
Grant tours the midwest and country, opening for comedians including Kelsey Cook, Geoffrey Asmus, Mike Recine and Mary Mack. He cohosts the podcast, We Cool?, in which listeners submit anonymous apologies for things they can’t admit to in their lives. His videos have accumulated millions of views on social media which is very impressive and means he is a good comedian.
Aidan Thibault
Aidan, just 19-years-old & originally from Duluth, moved to the Twin Cities to make his mark on the local comedy scene. And boy did he succeed, becoming the youngest ever winner of the Acme Comedy Club Funniest Person in the Twin Cities contest in 2024!
From reflecting on the realization that he’s Gen Z as opposed to a millennial (“I just learned recently that they’re, like, 40?”) to self-burns about his masculinity (“If someone sees a big guy with tools they’re like, ‘He’s going to fix something.’ If you see me with tools you’re like, ‘Oh he’s bringing those to someone else’”), Aidan leans into observations that manage to connect with the young as well as old-ass millennial members in the audience. Don’t miss your chance to see him!

Dustin also performs in & produces shows throughout the Midwest. His stories will have you laughing at life and the silly things that happen.
Danielle Thralow
Danielle is the regular host of Dubh-Linn's Pro Comedy Tour. She has performed throughout North America, winning Miami's Funniest and was runner-up at ACME Comedy Club's Funniest Person in the Twin Cities. Khadijah grew up in the suburbs of Minneapolis as an only child. Working as a Sexuality Educator with teens, her confidence in public speaking coupled with her quick wit gave her all the fuel she needed to burst onto the comedy scene, quickly making her name known. In 2019 Khadijah was named Top 5 for Best Comedian in the Twin Cities by City Pages.
Her point of view as a mother, a Sexuality Educator, and someone who has the confidence and comfort in her skin makes her irresistible to laugh with and relate to.

The Friday Night Comedy! shows at Gambit Brewing have become a hit with Twin Cities standup comedy enthusiasts. Booked, hosted, and produced by St Paul's very own Jesse The Shrink, each show has an unmistakably chill vibe and curated lineup of professional comedians guaranteed to make you laugh.
Headlining this special first show of 2025 will be the incredibly talented Jason Schommer, who for years toured with and opened for comedy legend Louie Anderson. Louie once referred to Jason as "funny, clever, smart, and on his way to the big time!”
Our feature comedian, Jodie Maruska, is a comedy veteran who has performed alongside Jason so many times she's often been referred to by audience members as his mother!

Headliner: Jason Schommer
Jason has a knack for finding the comedic gold in life’s most mundane and routine moments and delights audiences by proving that truth really is funnier than fiction. Patrick Strait from MN Comedy says “Nobody tells a better story than Jason Schommer. A long-time opener for the legendary Louie Anderson, Schommer is a multi-layered talent who combines stand-up, storytelling, acting and improv to create a unique experience every time he’s on stage. Jason is a true performer in every sense of the word, and one of the most engaging personalities in all avenues of Twin Cities comedy.”
Jason has performed in clubs and theaters all over the USA as well as Canada and for the US Military in Japan. He has also won numerous Story Slam competitions, performed at The Fitzgerald Theatre, The Guthrie Theater, and The Pantages Theater, worked for The Rosie O’Donnell Show and the FXtelevision series Baskets. In 2017, Jason released his first live comedy album “Confessions of a Local Celebrity”. Most recently he went viral on TikTok by starring in a video with Dave Ryan from KDWB and hitting over 5.3 million views.

Maggie Faris
Maggie’s ceaselessly cheerful personality, light-hearted material, and seemingly endless series of quirky, intelligent jokes leave audiences laughing at their own insecurities and prejudices, showing that we are all equally goofy human beings.
Widely considered one of the best comedians to come out of St Paul, MN, Maggie has released fourcomedy albums*, been featured on NBC’s Last Comic Standing, and co-headlined the inaugural St Paul Comedy All-Stars show. She’s also opened for such comedy greats as Maria Bamford, Louis Black, Damon Wayans, Jeff Ross, Dave Attel, Kathleen Madigan, Jay Pharoah, Michael Che, Daniel Tosh, Nick Swardson, Josh Wolf, Jamie Kennedy, Jimmy Pardo, Todd Glass, Joey Diaz, Sebastian Maniscalco, Greg Fitsimmons, Justin Willman, and Fortune Feimster.
Maggie was voted “Best Comedian” by her Minnesota peers and named “One of the Funniest Lesbians in America” by Curve magazine, as well as “Next Funniest Queer Comedian” by The Advocate magazine.
Oh and she wins comedy competitions in her sleep! Maggie’s taken top prize at the Loons on the Lake Comedy Competition, Minnesota Laugh-Off, Stand Out National Queer Comedy Search Competition, and the Gender Showdown (previous competitors including Louie Anderson and Rosanne Barr). She also won the Silver Nail Award and Funniest Clip of the Year at the Aspen Comedy Festival. The icing on the cake: one of Maggie’s competition wins landed her the coveted role of public address announcer for the St. Paul Saints professional baseball team, leading to an appearance on ESPN’s Cold Pizza!

Jeff Pfoser is a Saint Paul lifer, was a headliner of last year's Saint Paul Comedy All-Stars show at Laugh Camp Comedy Club, is a Standup! Records recording artist, and is widely considered to be one of the Saintly City's very best standup comics. He's also been featured at Acme Comedy Club, 1st Ave, The Improv, the Boston Comedy Festival, the 10,000 Laughs Comedy Festival, and countless other comedy clubs, wineries, & breweries across the country.
Pfoser owns two minivans, enjoys top-shelf root beer, and prefers eating breakfast food for dinner. A charismatic family man whose relatable stories take surprise twists and turns, he combines impromptu commentary with astute observations of both the magnificent and the mundane.
