This unique standup comedy competition has been so well received by audiences at its previous run in Minneapolis we've decided to bring it across the river into the Saintly City!

Created by local comics and producers Spencer Schultz and Andrew Himmer (collectively known as Stand Up Killers), the Laughs Per Minute Battle features 12 Minnesota comics of varying experience levels, bringing their best 5 minutes of jokes for our live audience and panel of judges. Whoever can earn the hightest number of laughs per minute will be crowned the winner AND receive the $200 prize!!

Celebrating 2 years of standup comedy magic in Lowertown Saint Paul's favorite room for laughs. Featuring a full lineup of Gambit favorites!

Gambit Brewing Comedy began 2 years ago with a little Tuesday night open mic at the back of the brewery. There were probably 6 audience members and even fewer comics! In the time since, we've grown to become a destination for must-see standup comedy events such as the annual Funniest Person in St Paul contest (featured in the St Paul Pioneer Press and MN Star Tribune); Funniest Headliner contest; the Friday Night Comedy!series; New Year's Eve and Valentine's Day comedy shows; Pride Comedy Night; St Paul Art Crawl Comedy; the Funniest In The Twin Cities comedy showcase; the Hump Day Comedy Hour; Tuesday Night Open Mic; the St Cloud Invasion, Duluth Invasion, and Iowa Invasion shows; and the upcoming Laughs Per Minute Battle.

This special celebration features a lineup of Gambit Brewing Comedy favorites - comics who have performed for our audiences with much fanfare, from established pros to some of the top up-and-comers. Come celebrate with us as we put on this free show as our way of saying thank you to local standup comedy fans who've supported us or have looked forward to finally checking out one of our shows.

**This will likely become a standing-room-only event (seating capacity is 65, total capacity 92) so arriving early is recommended to find good seating, have time to order drinks and food, use the restroom, etc. Show up as early as you like. After 6:30pm it may become more dificult to find seating.

Linda's been a giant part of the Minneapolis comedy scene for years & has become known for her deadpan, fast-paced comedy style that audiences adore. She won the Funniest Person in Minnesota contest, was a finalist in last year's Funniest Headlienr contest, & has opened for renowned comedy legends such as Louie Anderson.

He started performing comedy in 2009 to spite a girl who wouldn’t return his calls and pretty soon he was finishing runner-up in Acme Comedy Company’’s “Funniest Person in the Twin Cities” contest; venturing West to become a semifinalist in the Seattle International Comedy Competition; finishing runner-up in the “Best of the Midwest” contest at Laughfest; opening for the likes of Mark Maron, Whitney Cummings, and The Sklar Brothers; becoming a regular headliner at Acme; releasing his debut album “Coming in Hot”, and performing on NBC’s “Last Comic Standing”. Jesse is a bona fide licensed therapist & standup comic who gives audiences a sneak peek into the inner-workings & often hilarious experiences of a mental health professional. Whether he’s talking about navigating virtual therapy sessions during an apocalypse or just trying to figure out what to tell drunk people he does for a living, one thing’s sure: after hearing his stories you’ll never see therapy (or your therapist) the same again!

Jesse is the producer & host of a number of Twin Cities comedy shows including Jesse The Shrink’s Midlife Crisis Show, the St Paul Comedy All-Stars Show, Friday Night Comedy at Gambit Brewing, & Comedy Night at Station 10.
