Josh began brewing with a large pot, some pre-packaged hops and a whim in the early 2000s. Many different recipes and styles were put to the test. Some were winners, a few were duds, but there was always a fresh brew on tap at the Secaur Homestead to ensure a hearty welcome. In 2020, he joined Bobtown Brewery in Roberts, WI, as head brewer honing his skills to meet the local demand. That’s also where he met Mike, Gambit’s general manager. Josh’s aim is to brew beer and seltzers that can be enjoyed by anyone who walks through Gambit’s door.

His ability to create a welcoming atmosphere in any situation is Mike Christensen’s superpower. He’s traveled the United States, establishing Buffalo Wild Wings locations across the country, making friends everywhere he stopped. A desire to put his imprint in his community led him to open Bobtown Brewery in Roberts, Wisconsin, in 2016. Opening Gambit Brewing in St. Paul, Minnesota, is a natural extension of Mike’s desire to create community and connection.

In January 2023, Mike and Josh opened the doors to Gambit in the basement of the historic Pioneer Endicott building. Gambit Brewing Co. was born from a shared passion for crafting exceptional beers and seltzers that bring people together. Here, we believe that a brewery should be more than just a place to enjoy a drink. Our goal is to create a welcoming and inclusive environment where everyone feels at home.
